The truth is out! Those who revealed that the Israelis were harvesting the organs of palestinians were denounced as anti-Semites. But now Dr Jehuda Hiss, former head of Israel's Abu Kabir forensic institute has admitted its true. The Israeli military say they stopped doing this a decade ago. Who would believe them? Full text at link.

Israel has admitted that in the 1990s, its forensic pathologists harvested organs from dead bodies, including Palestinians, without permission of their families. The issue emerged with publication of an interview with the then-head of Israel's Abu Kabir forensic institute, Dr Jehuda Hiss. The interview was conducted in 2000 by an American academic, who released it because of a huge controversy last summer over an allegation by a Swedish newspaper that Israel was killing Palestinians in order to harvest their organs. Israel hotly denied the charge. ... read full story / add a comment

Yassamine Mather and Chris Strafford write on how internal squabbles continue to plague the Islamist Regime. Meanwhile the opposition movement continues to radicalise and surge ahead. They point to need to oppose sanctions against Iran saying: Sanctions against Iran are a stepping stone to military aggression. Full text at link.

Each day that goes by, the gap between the protesters and the leaders of the ‘green movement’ increases. The statements of Moussavi, Khatami and Karroubi expressing allegiance to Khomeini will not go down well with many of their own supporters. Moussavi is clearly concerned that he is losing control of the protests, as he keeps warning everyone about the threat of “radicalism”. On Monday December 15 he said: “If people’s questions were answered and they were not confronted violently, we would not see some of the controversial moves today ... People want an end to the security-obsessed atmosphere: in such an atmosphere radicalism grows.” ... read full story / add a comment

Yassamine Mather and Chris Srafford write on the developing unrest in Iran. They say its no longer just a matter of the leadership: the future of the Islamic Republic of Iran is in question. Full text at link.

The 56th anniversary of the murder of three students by the shah's security forces during vice president Richard Nixon?s visit to Tehran in 1953 may prove to be the last Students Day commemorated under the heel of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Hundreds of thousands of students, youth and workers took to the streets in protest against the regime and the barbaric repression meted out since the June elections.People taking part in the various actions carried Iranian flags, but without the Islamic Republic's sign of Allah, showing that the movement is moving beyond the slogans of the "reformists".

“Settlers attack West Bank mosque and burn holy Muslim books” was a London Times headline on December 11, 2009.

These attacks, together with the demolition of Palestinian homes, the uprooting of Palestinians’ olive groves, the innumerable checkpoints that prevent Palestinians from accessing schools, work, and medical care, the Israeli Wall that denies Palestinians access to the land stolen from them, and the isolation and blockade of the Gaza Ghetto, are part of the Israeli government’s policy of genocide for the Palestinians. ... read full story / add a comment

Human rights violations in Iran are now as bad as at any time in the past 20 years, Amnesty International has said in a new report on the aftermath of last June’s presidential election.

"As Bill Clinton and Madame Albright liked to say – the United Nations is there to further the best interests – of US foreign policy. However, to be fair, other States undoubtedly see it much the same way, but are more discrete and lack ambitions and military capacity for global empire!
And now we have President Obama, who wants to work with the United Nations and be a player rather than to dominate and control. Sounds good. We await the reality as he expands the war in Afghanistan, keeps Bagram airbase prison full of the tortured and uncharged, finishes off the destruction of Iraq, refuses to end the occupation of Okinawa, has the thick skin to criticize China for human rights abuses when America itself has a deplorable record, and now militarily threatens Iran! Not exactly the sort of new player we had hoped for perhaps! But let’s keep our fingers crossed..." ... read full story / add a comment
