A cross party group of TDs have expressed concern at the jailing of two political activists, Sean Doyle and Eamonn McGrath. Both men have been remanded in custody until the 21st of May and 24th of June respectively for taking part in a peaceful protest in Kilcoole. Sean was arrested after being assaulted by an individual in front of Gardai while his attacker went unpunished. The same attacker then viciously pushed a woman to the ground. The Gardaí present saw fit to arrest the protesters for trespass while they gently escorted the assailant away. No charges have been brought against this man. The continuation of the political policing of the Irish Water protests exposes the Garda, yet again, as a force used to protect the status quo at the expense of ordinary people. Jump To Comment: 1 2 3It seems there is one law for the capitalist's thugs and another for the people. It's unbelievable the way the media get in a range whenever some involved in these campaigns steps out of line. This non-action by the Gardai in this situation amounts to state sanctioned thuggery.
Meanwhile Irish Water the people who are supposed to be so concerned about their precious resource ...were fined in court in Cavan last week for serious pollution of a river there.

Members of Eamon McGrath's and Sean Doyle's families today visited their loved ones in Cloverhill Prison. The visit was the first contact of any type that either man has had with their families since their imprisonment on Monday afternoon.
Eamon and Sean are very grateful for all of the support that has been offered to them and their families from people across Ireland and beyond.
Despite their detention both men were in good spirits and defiant mood. They continue to assert the right of citizens to peacefully disrupt the installation of domestic water meters in the belief that such meters will be used at some point in the future to introduce a new Water Tax.
Sean and Eamon urged citizens to continue to peacefully resist the installation of water meters and to campaign for the complete and permanent abolition of the Water Tax.
They asked that all protests in relation to their own imprisonment be conducted in a disciplined, peaceful manner without unnecessary disruption to the general public whose support is needed to permanently defeat the Water Tax.
Finally they asked their supporters to join the 'March For Connolly' event on Saturday, May 14, which Sean Doyle was due to speak at. Assembling at 2pm at the Wolfe Tone statue for March to GPO.
Further updates will follow.
