The Right2Water campaign is shocked by the jailing of five water protesters for contempt of court today (Thursday, 19th February). Bernie Hughes, Derek Byrne and Michael Batty were all sentenced to 28 days in prison while Paul Moore and Damien O’Neill were given 56 days each.

Right2Water representatives were in court for the sentencing, which they described as “an unnecessary and provocative decision brought about by an unfair water charge that has already been rejected and cannot work.” ... read full story / add a comment

Press Release - Feb 1st - The Irish Government and media appear to be in a panic about two Russian TU-95 bomber aircraft that flew down the west coast of Ireland at least 50 miles out to sea, and not through Irish sovereign airspace. A statement issued by the Irish Department of Defence said "non-controlled and non-notified flight activity by Russian aircraft is not acceptable". This same Department of Defence of a supposedly neutral Irish state has issued no such statements about the transit of almost two and half million US troops through Shannon airport since 2001, and provides Irish soldiers to guard US military aircraft at Shannon. ... read full story / add a comment

Workers’ Party councillor Ted Tynan has said that it is time to replace two decades of lip-service on hospital overcrowding with immediate action to end the scandal of sick patients lying on trolleys in hospital corridors and wards.

Cllr. Tynan said that the hospital trolley crisis, like the Winter Vomiting bug, had become an annual fixture and the stock answer from both the government and the HSE that it was a temporary crisis was an insult to the patients involved and their families. ... read full story / add a comment

Details of the methods used, the extent of the torture and the scale of lies and deceit from a government agency are even worse than was already known. ANIMAL ABUSE aka BLOODSPORTS WILL HAVE SURVIVED 101 YEARS in Millstreet.

The annual Millstreet Hare coursing event set for 3rd/4th Jan 2015 has already caused disgruntled locals to contact ourselves and other direct action Animal rights Groups.

This cruel spectacle actually takes place on a GAA pitch in a local public park. The park in the centre of the town, a favourite with locals, dog walkers, footballers etc however is disrupted for four weeks a year and actually has a rusty dump of an enclosure permanently in place to hold the netted hares for the coursing two day event. All this is allowed in a public park such is the power of the Town Park Committee. The opposition to ending this has prompted people to release the hares on many occasions but sadly they get recaptured and coursed, it fails as too many obstacles stop their escape and they are enclosed behind more wire than can be dismantled, until maybe this year if locals do not give up.
