The Environment Agency is offering 40 summer internships, but says white people need not apply as the positions are only for people of "diverse" backgrounds in an egregious example of official anti-white discrimination.

Yassamine Mather writes about the ongoing Imperialist agenda to impose even stronger sanctions against Iran. Now Obama has the support of the Chinese regime. Yassamine makes it clear that this has got nothing to do with nuclear weapons. Full text at link.

For the last few months, every day - and at times more than once a day - media presentation of world news has been dominated by US attempts to impose sanctions on Iran. Sometimes it is the visit of a foreign head of state to Washington that is the occasion for the latest call; at other times it is Hillary Clinton’s world tour, or a phone call from Barack Obama to a Chinese leader. ... read full story / add a comment

Tony Greenstein writes on how the Zionists are continuing to cleanse the Occupied Territories, making parts of the West Banks permanent no go areas for Palestinians. But the Zionist State is also moving against Israeli Jews who oppose Zionism. Full text at link.

In the past two weeks there has been an increase in Israeli attacks on Gaza, culminating with the bombing by Israel of a factory and civilian areas on April 1. Presumably some form of April fool’s joke - with a vengeance.

However, the sporadic firing and shelling does not tell the whole story or even part of it. Israel continues to maintain its starvation blockade, which has in itself resulted in hundreds of silent deaths - ie, medical emergencies, the elderly and very young without nutrition, people living outdoors in the cold (concrete is barred from the list of imports). ... read full story / add a comment

The office of Iran’s supreme leader is not only in total confrontation with the people, but at the same time most of the Shia ayatollahs who are accepted as sources of religious guidance are trying to distance themselves from him. The truth is that the traditional Shia religious governance is a form of republic (in the way Engels refers to the Protestant church as the ‘republican church’ and the Catholic church as the ‘Royalist church’), but now vali faghih is trying to change it into a royalist system, making the independence of centres of guidance impossible. ... read full story / add a comment

Top Orangeman will contest poll for BNP
Irish News, 26 March 2010

by Barry McCaffrey

The Orange Order has refused to disassociate itself from a leading member who is due to stand as a BNP candidate in the Westminster election.

Yesterday the order was widely criticised after calling on members to protest against Pope Benedict's visit to England in September.

Last night it emerged that Nick Blake, a district master of the Orange Order in Devon, had been selected to stand for the far-right British National Party.

The order's leaderships in Northern Ireland and in England yesterday rejected calls from Alliance MLA Anna Lo to disassociate itself from Mr Blake, who will contest the poll in the constituency of Torridge and West Devon. ... read full story / add a comment

Gallipoli cost us more than soldiers

Irish Examiner 23 march 2010

As President Mary McAleese prepares to commemorate the Irish who died during the brutal Gallipoli campaign, Dr Patrick Walsh says it is time to reflect on the full significance of this terrible and costly battle

PRESIDENT Mary McAleese will deliver a speech tomorrow at the site of the famous 1915 Battle of Gallipoli at which nearly 4,000 Irishmen were killed.

She will speak of Irish nationalists and unionists who fought and died side by side in a campaign which left over 150,000 allied service men and an estimated 80,000 of the Ottoman force dead.

But while commemorating all those brave men, how many will realise or question the cause for which they fought or the consequences at the time for Ireland itself? ... read full story / add a comment
