Just 20% of Muslim Americans voted for Kamala Harris ? fewer than voted for Donald Trump! The reason Muslims are abandoning the centre-Left is clear, says Noah Carl: they want parties that don't back Israel.

Not long ago, anyone criticising St Greta was labelled a bully. Her expertise in climate science was beyond question, despite leaving school at 14. Now, it looks like the heretics were right and the worshippers were fools.

A brief history of the deforestation of Ireland and why it happened.....

It is well known that Ireland has a very low level of tree cover, among the lowest of any European country – in 2012 it had risen to almost 11% although it is still way below the European average of 30%. Of course about half of this 11% is Sitkha Spruce, which is non-native and causes acidification of the soil.

A lot has been written about the Michael McKevitt case over the years since his incarceration in 2001. Whether his reputation as an unrepentant republican is palatable to many people or not, he has endured the wrath of a very vicious print media campaign throughout that time and even before. We overlook the fact that the media onslaught was also waged against his entire family without any justification whatsoever and the standards used against them fell well below anything that we could even attempt to describe as 'normal practice'. ... read full story / add a comment

David Norris has recently been diagnosed with cancer which he speculated appears to be related to the initial incidence of viral hepatitis which he contracted from tainted drinking water while he was on unpaid Government business in Eastern Europe in 1994. There is much discussion about this online, but this personal situation may have added fire and urgency to his impassioned breathless speech in defence of the Seanad. Here it is. Share it widely. ... read full story / add a comment

"I have been in prison for over 3 years and I still haven’t been given a reason. They have put forward a number of allegations against me, and I’m not able to defend myself against any of them. They say I have been seen speaking to known republicans, and that I visited a number of houses. What does that matter? It doesn’t mean I’ve done anything wrong. Despite the multiple cover-ups between the Garda Commissioner and the Justice Minister there still lingers an undercurrent of malpractice and deceit, which could only be resolved with an independent investigation. Lurking beneath the surface there appears to be dishonesty and cover-up and some within the Garda organisation are of the view that the Garda Commissioner should stand aside rather than be pushed later. ... read full story / add a comment

Many Americans, of Christian ancestry, were taught their (supposedly their) Judeo-Christian “God” (Anglo-Saxon term for Yahweh) knows all because he sees all. Yet if we put these powers into political terms and context—then these capacities are not much different from the current National Security Administration’s “Operation Prism” that has vast potential to know all about Americans and apparently the entire world of personal communications, as recently revealed by Glen Greenwald’s stories in British daily The Guardian. Thus we learn our Leviathan State can know everything and anything about anyone. By analyzing religion through a lens of political philosophy we can see the psychology of Judeo-Christian Yahweh’s exclusivity to power, as in “he” (anthropomorphized) holds all the cards, is thus the exemplar religious model for a political state of Monarchy (and privileges to a more or less self-select court elite).

“Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it”

Iraq had WMD’s, Gaddafi was killing his own people, Iran has been six months from having nuclear weapons since 2004 and now Syria has used chemical weapons in its civil war. These are lies purported as truth by the vast majority of the mainstream media. These are four examples from the last decade, but of course lies of this kind have been used throughout history to justify wars of aggression. All of these government sponsored fallacies are inextricably linked in an on-going geo-political chess game. This game is all too real for those living in the “theatres” of conflict, and it shall be so for us few, lucky enough to reside in the still relatively peaceful albeit now austere “western” world.

Here is an interesting arcticle i have found on the scambridge.ie website,i find it interesting how joan burton has massaged figures, and is furiously trying to spin something positive out of job bridge.

What could be so positive about robbing what could be a paid job from the poorest of communities, usually the paid work they convert or nullify into unpaid work are of working class and middle class level jobs.

IT ROBS WHAT COULD BE A PAID JOB FROM THE COMMUNITY.

What is so positive about that? The 38% of interns taken on are not 38% per se,but 25% of that 38%,so there is another shady lie from the minister for ''jobs'' or should i say unemployment?

Here is the article below:
