2025 is the UN deadline for all countries to integrate climate propaganda into their school curriculum. Is this why there's been such a push recently in the UK and elsewhere to green the classroom, asks Steven Tucker.

Symbol of the resistance and intifada and leader of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades the formidable but affable and thoughtful Zakaria Zubeidi readily agreed to be interviewed on the 12th November at Jenin's Freedom Theatre. Not for him the hypocrisy of paying lip service to the PA Quisling regime in Ramallah but forthright condemnation and contempt: In June 2004, he kidnapped the corrupt Israeli collaborator, then PA governor of Jenin, Haidar Irshard to "beat the shit out of him." . He also burnt down the local office of the Palestinian Legislative Council. Alleged by the Israelis to be the chief strategist of suicide bombing he was ruthlessly hunted for extermination - in one botched attempt, in 2004, an Israeli death squad killed five other brigade members, including a 14-year old boy, in a jeep carrying him, in another, nine Palestinians were killed in Jenin including four civililians on a IOF murder expedition. read full story / add a comment

I'm happy to report that, today, on the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Palestinians ably assisted by Israeli activists and "internationals" tore down a section of the obscenity called the Apartheid Wall near the IOF checkpoint of Qalandiya outside Ramallah in the West Bank. giving a much needed fillip to Palestinian morale and people of good conscience around the world. The action was noteworthy for its meticulous planning and execution which ensured jubilant success. read full story / add a comment

At about 5pm this evening as the closing plenary of what can only be seen as a very disapointing climate talks in Barcelona, 2 people got up with a banner and walked toward the front stage shouting "Markets are the problem, not the solution". The banner appears to have read "Obama is finishing what Bush started".

They were quickly jumped upon by security guards at the conference and wrestled to the ground. A third person stood up and came to their aid, it appears she was taken away from the plenary by the security guards.

All three were evicted from the conference, no arrests were made. read full story / add a comment

Vibrant rallies were held today in Dublin, Cork, Dundalk, Galway, Limerick, Sligo, Tullamore and Waterford to protest against the treatment of workers and the vulnerable in Irish society. It is estimated that over 20,000 marched in Dublin, up to 15,000 marched in Cork and up to 5,000 or more in other cities and towns around Ireland. This is undoubtedly a powerful collective message to our government. read full story / add a comment

Ireland’s youngest Councillors Johnny McGibbon and Charlene O’Hara, the youngest MLA Daithí McKay and Ógra Shinn Féin National Organiser Barry McColgan gathered at the Felons Club in Belfast today to promote the republican youth movement’s upcoming National Congress being held in the city in less than 2 weeks from the 13 – 15 November.

The national youth event will see over 100 delegates converge in Belfast, to discuss, and debate the most pressing political issues affecting Irish youth, and plan the upcoming year for Ireland’s fastest growing, most active youth wing.

The republican youth movement will also be celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the founding of Na Fianna Éireann, and remembering the young Fians who died in Ireland’s freedom struggle by hosting a special dinner dance in the Holiday Inn on Ormeau Avenue in Belfast on Saturday 14th November. Limited tickets are still available priced at only £40.

This week (monday 2 - friday 6) the Barcelona International Climate Change Talks are happening, five days of formal negotiations, in the lead up to COP 15. Since Saturday there have been a series of actions in the cities streets as well as at the conference centre to raise awereness, to unite eco movements and to try to force change during this window of opportunity in the conference centre at the far side of Montjuic. But will it be enough to get us out of our AGE OF STUPID? Perhaps not, news has just come through today that African countries have abandoned the talks.

Talks Timeline
Saturday - Manifestation in Barcelona streets - The climate is not for sale
Sunday - Outdoor film screening in city streets - 11th hour - Age of Stupid - Eco hopes
Monday - TckTckTck wake up call for climate talks - Anarchist night greeting
Tuesday - Africa boycott U.N. climate talks, demands CO2 cuts read full story / add a comment

Management at Green Isle still refuse to engage with TEEU, LRC, NIB, or Labour Court. This despite the fact that they have accepted Irish State Aid to the tune of €43,000,000. Green Isle's capacity to suck money out of the Irish exchequer is matched by their contempt for workers and the Trade Union movement. read full story / add a comment
national / animal rights / event notice Friday October 30, 2009 20:07 by ARAN   video 1 video file
Never before have we issued such an urgent call for nationwide unity to stop cruelty to animals in this country. This year we’ve got a genuine and real opportunity to get long lasting and historic protection for animals and to compel industry and society to respect and treat animals fairly. For many people reading today the issue breaks your heart, but on December 6th we have one last opportunity to send a huge message to decision makers at government level that the new and revised animal welfare bill due to be released in 2010 must contain such strong measures to protect animals and penalize those that seek to profit and get kicks out of animal abuse. read full story / add a comment

Thanks to the publication of a British police intelligence "spotter card" issued to rank & file coppers for a climate change protest in 2007 this week by a British newspaper, many people regardless of whether they are activists in the UK or Ireland or indeed elsewhere in the EU are wondering about their constitutional and statutory rights in the face of the European wide creation of intelligence databases by police forces. Whereas those whose images appeared without prior consent in this week's British media may have recourse to legal action and a bit of chatter, Irish political activists, protesters & ordinary citizens thus far enjoy no public recognition of the existence of such databases in Ireland nor it would appear have any mechanism to ensure that their details if not guilty of any criminal offence are removed from the intelligence files of the Garda Siochana. read full story / add a comment
