The two intrepid reporters approached the Dáil, hoping to have some serious questions answered, armed with a camera and a butt plug, just in case.

A big lorry came and parked outside the Dail in an act of protest about toxic banks. Reporters were later to be seen spinning the story that it had tried to crash through the gates. Later still, politicians were defecating the same thing. We had enough. We produced the butt plug. The politicians seemed to like it.

Not all of us are willing to take it in the arse for the banks. read full story / add a comment

The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) launched its new Northwest Branch at a public meeting in Sligo on Saturday 26 September in the Glasshouse Hotel.

Around 40 people attended the inaugural meeting of the Northwest IPSC. Addressing the meeting was the IPSC Boycott Officer Anne Kennedy, Fintan Lane of the Free Gaza Movement and the IPSC and Fiachra O Luain. Both Fiachra and Fintan were part of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla that was attacked on May 31 in International waters by Israel, resulting in the murder of nine pro-Palestinian activists and the wounding of many more, some of whom remain in a serious condition.

Pyjama Girls isn't your typical commerical release. Its a film which deserves a space on Indymedia.

Pyjama Girls, a new Irish documentary by Maya Derrington that examines the lives of two of Dublin’s ‘pyjama girls’, will screen at some of the country’s most prominent cinemas as part of a DIY distribution campaign. The film sold out its week-long run at Dublin’s IFI and was moved from the smallest to the largest screen after one day. IFI director Sarah Glennie says “the film attracted a new audience profile to the cinema – it’s pyjama mania!” read full story / add a comment

The Bord Pleannala oral hearing saga continued today in Bellmullet at the Broadhaven Bay Hotel, looking at the Compulsory Acquisition Orders of the present project application of the Shell Corrib Gas proposed estuary pipeline route, as well as various other aspects of the project. The various concerns raised by local objectors and the Rossport Solidarity Camp were not appeased by Shell's experts, and the question of whether the project was in 'the public interest' was once again raised by Mr Leo Mulrooney, Barrister for local land owners. read full story / add a comment

On Saturday 4th September Kate O’Sullivan, an activist from the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC), made a citizen’s arrest on former British Prime Minister Tony Blair at a book signing in Eason’s. However the Gardaí refused to act on the arrest, preferring instead to detain Ms. O’Sullivan for half an hour in a stairwell. At the protest outside Eason’s, where over 1,000 people gathered to protest the presence of Mr Blair in Ireland, at least three arrests of peaceful protesters where carried out, including that of a secondary school student. All have subsequently been released and are due in court on 30th September. read full story / add a comment
