On Thursday, September 16th, Joe Gilmartin and Seamus O’Nualláin left Tipperary with a van full of aid to drive 5000 km to Gaza. Along with others from the north and the UK, they are part of the international VIva Palestina convoy of almost 200 vehicles, $3million of medical aid, and 400 people from 30 different countries, for the people of Gaza. Having crossed through France, Italy, Greece and Turkey, the latest news is that that the convoy is waiting in Latakia, Syria, to get a ferry to Egypt and then travel into Gaza. The Egyptian government is currently threatening not to allow them through. Here is the diary that Joe and Seamus have sent back. To follow their progress go to facebook page “Tipp2Gaza”. read full story / add a comment

Up to 250 people took part in the 1% Network’s walking tour on Saturday last, October 9th. As people began to gather from as early as 12.30pm it was clear that large numbers were going to to take the opportunity to ‘see how the 1% live.’ The unusually warm weather and low-key Garda presence added to the almost festive atmosphere for this most unusual of political protests. read full story / add a comment

The two intrepid reporters approached the Dáil, hoping to have some serious questions answered, armed with a camera and a butt plug, just in case. A big lorry came and parked outside the Dail in an act of protest about toxic banks. Reporters were later to be seen spinning the story that it had tried to crash through the gates. Later still, politicians were defecating the same thing. We had enough. We produced the butt plug. The politicians seemed to like it. Not all of us are willing to take it in the arse for the banks. read full story / add a comment

Pyjama Girls isn't your typical commerical release. Its a film which deserves a space on Indymedia. Pyjama Girls, a new Irish documentary by Maya Derrington that examines the lives of two of Dublin’s ‘pyjama girls’, will screen at some of the country’s most prominent cinemas as part of a DIY distribution campaign. The film sold out its week-long run at Dublin’s IFI and was moved from the smallest to the largest screen after one day. IFI director Sarah Glennie says “the film attracted a new audience profile to the cinema – it’s pyjama mania!” read full story / add a comment
