Not long ago, anyone criticising St Greta was labelled a bully. Her expertise in climate science was beyond question, despite leaving school at 14. Now, it looks like the heretics were right and the worshippers were fools.

international / anti-war / imperialism / opinion/analysis Tuesday April 22, 2014 01:08 by john throne
German imperialism was left in an extremely weakened state militarily after world war 2. It depended on US imperialism and its stooges to help it stand against Stalinism. With the collapse of Stalinism it sought peace and friendly relations with the new Russian power. Within this umbrella its economic power flourished. This is now threatened. So also is the entire stability of Europe. the stupidity of US imperialism as its thrashes about in its death those is no help.

On Wednesday, 23rd of April The Girl Against Fluoride Team will stage a protest outside the Irish Medicine's Board at Kevin O’Malley House, Earlsfort Centre, Earlsfort Terrace, Dublin 2 from 10am-6pm. The Irish Medicine's Board have never once licensed the water fluoridation chemicals, claiming the water fluoridation policy is a public health measure. This contrasts with the EU stance on hydrofluorisilicic acid which was banned for its use as a biocide in 2006 due to a lack of toxicological data read full story / add a comment

If the industrial salmon cages are permitted to be located in Galway , the sea trout and wild salmon are impaired.
Evidence adduced by gargan et al show unequivocal evidence of louse infestation on returning fish ( to spawn) to be attributable to the proximity of returning wild fish . The closer the salmon cages are located to the swim paths of the fish , the more the infestation of lice on the wild fish read full story / add a comment

Please allow me an opportunity through your site to comment on the interesting I.Green article (31st March 2014) on Garda corruption. While the article deals with a number of cases I will focus on one case in particular, which is less likely to get mentioned during all the present hype into the endless Garda tapes debacle. In my view the case of Michael Mc Kevitt is equally, if not more significant, regarding corrupt activity by some members of the Gardai. Evidently misdemeanours by certain individuals throughout the Mc Kevitt case were endemic. Fearful of the reverberations it is very unlikely that the state would permit the case to be reopened.

On Monday, the Supreme Court hears arguments between Argentina and holdouts who refused two debt restructuring deals after Argentina defaulted on its debts in 2001. The Supreme Court Justices will determine if predatory hedge fund, NML Capital can obtain information from US Banks that reveal Argentina's holdings in order to target those assets for debt payments. The Obama Administration is siding with Argentina in the case. In the summer, the Supreme Court will also decide if it will hear a much broader case between Argentina and the hedge funds that impacts extreme poverty, official US debt policy and country debt restructuring. read full story / add a comment

Saturday night's concert was part of the International Concert Series presented in The National Concert Hall for 2013/2014. I was looking forward to the concert because the soloist and conductor, Michael Collins, is a totally congenial and engaging musician whom I last saw a number of years ago at the celebrity farewell concert for John Ruddock the famous Dublin/Limerick impresario. The atmosphere in The National Concert Hall that night was unforgettable, the best I ever remember. And Michael Collins had a lot to do with it. Everything was set fair for Saturday night. A very appealing program. A treat in store. read full story / add a comment

Buried in the DLC CC website is a notice inviting members of the public to have their say in the 2016 - 2022 development plan. These are types of plans throughout the country that have been shaped, influenced and manipulated by corrupt developers in the past and probably will continue to do so in the future.

The consultation period has already been in operation for over a month since March 19th and continues until May 14th.

This is the public chance to have their say. However DLR have been very coy about this and have given very little publicity about it. It appears you have to know about it in order to find out about it. read full story / add a comment

Not unexpectedly Martin Callinan was forced to stand down as head of the Gardai on 25th March 2014. Throughout 2013 I have written a number of articles concerning malpractices within the Garda organisation and particularly the questionable management style of (former) Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan. While Callinan was eventually forced from office, the ‘mess’ created during his term will take years to cleanse, indeed if ever. That will only happen when there is accountability. Amongst the outstanding bad practice issues are multiple claims of Gardai mishandling of a number of serious cases involving abduction, assault and murder that are being presently looked at by a Senior Barrister and now we are told that people have been maliciously prosecuted previously, it is frightening. However, if former Garda Wilson or others are in possession of such detail he must divulge it to the relevant authority.
