We are reproducing this very important article by Brandon Turbeville from Activist Post in light of the constant stream of propaganda about terrorism and the recent attacks in which unfortunately three Irish people were killed including others who are just as important, in order to show that there is a direct link to US government foreign policy. In turn this foreign policy serves the corporate state which are the same forces pushing things like TTIP and neo liberal policies, austerity, social deprivation, worse working conditions, destruction of the environment and of course the creeping totalitarian state.
When researchers such as myself have reported that the United States is funding al-Qaeda, Nusra, ISIS and other related terror organizations in Syria, we were not kidding. Still, despite the fact that even the U.S. government itself has admitted that it was funding terrorists– directly and indirectly through Saudi Arabia, the suggestion was met with disbelief, ridicule, or either entirely ignored. Now, however, the United States government has admitted that it funds terrorists on the ground in Syria yet again, this time placing an individual dollar amount on the assistance provided. read full story / add a comment

This report from FrackingFreeIreland comes from a campaigner from Germany who decided to build a people map of the pro fracking lobby in Germany. The links he uncovered and the techniques have a lot to say about all other issues and how many of the most undemocratic practices are pushed forward. The principle used applies not just in Germany but is widespread including here in Ireland. Campaigner from Germany I have done a new graphic on all these lobby and pr firms trying to manage public perception in Germany. read full story / add a comment

A package of trade bills stalled today when the US House of Representatives defeated one portion of the package while voting in favor of another. Trade Adjustment Assistance, a program to assist US workers who lose their jobs because of trade agreements, failed by a vote of 302-126. This worker assistance is part of the Trade Act of 2015 which would give President Obama Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) to move international trade agreements through Congress without amendment. Congress must pass trade assistance within two remaining legislative days in order for TPA or "fast track" to be sent to President Obama's desk. read full story / add a comment

As the country reflects on a new beginning, SPARK are asking you to extend equality to children. Ireland has failed to protect children from the recession and child poverty rates have seen a shocking increase over the last few years. However, the picture is even bleaker for children in one parent families. 23% of our children live in consistent poverty and that is before the draconian cuts to incomes of working lone parents are introduced in July. Join NWCI at the SPARK protest at the Dail Gates, Leinster House, Kildare Street, Dublin 2 at 3:30pm on Weds 10th June read full story / add a comment

The EU's negotiating team for pharmaceuticals, medical devices and cosmetics in the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) met with civil society organisations inside the Commission on Wednesday (27 May) to defend the inclusion of the health sector in the trade deal. In Europe, universal healthcare is a source of national pride, as well as a constant subject of debate. So, the inclusion of a healthcare chapter in TTIP has triggered heated reactions from health NGOs and trade unions, who are wary of an American-style liberalisation of a heavily regulated sector. read full story / add a comment
