The entry deadline for Kids Express, a poetry competition for school aged children, is 15 April 2010.

The deadline for the international children's poetry competition, Kids Express, is coming up on 15 April 2010. Make sure to enter now and join us in July for a fun packed family night of entertainment!

The entry deadline for Kids Express, an international poetry competition for school aged children ages 8-12 and 13-17, is fast approaching on 15 April 2010. All short listed entrants will be given the opportunity to perform their poem on stage this summer at Kids Express on 2 July in Bantry Boys' Club, Bantry, West Cork. First place winners in each age category will receive an engraved trophy.

Poems must be in English, any style, up to 60 lines. Only one poem may be submitted, and must be original work of entrant. Poems should be typed on A4 paper, one side only, and should not have been published or accepted for publication elsewhere. Poems that have won or been in the prize lists of previous competitions are not eligible. Entries are open to any nationality from any country. A completed application form must accompany all entries. Any entries received without a completed application form will be disqualified. Application forms can be requested by e-mailing [email protected]. There is no fee to enter.

Sponsored by Dark World International, Planet Mythos Video, and Express Events, Kids Express has an evening of family entertainment scheduled for 7 p.m., 2 July 2010. This is all ages show, and admission to the night is free. All short listed entries will be performed, either by the author or by a volunteer child performer from the area. The winners in each age category will be announced. Spoken word performance group Wordmusic from Manchester is scheduled to present a special children's set. Hosted by Kylyra, the night will include poetry, fun, and music. A face-painter will be on hand for the kids. This event is scheduled to be video taped and recorded for internet release.

The deadline for submissions to Kids Express, an international poetry competition for school aged children ages 8-12 and 13-17, is 15 April 2010.
