Paisley's Comments 'Psychopathic'

category national | miscellaneous | press release author Tuesday August 19, 2008 22:37author by Richard Walsh - Republican Sinn Féin Report this post to the editors

Sinn Féin have condemned Ian Óg Paisley's calls for Republicans to be murdered on sight following an IRA attack in Fermanagh.

Following an IRA operation targeting British forces in Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh, Ian Óg Paisley called for Republicans to be murdered on sight to prevent the growth of the Republican Movement. A spokesman for Republican Sinn Féin said that this was wishful thinking on the part of Mr. Paisley.

“Ian Óg Paisley's psychopathic outburst amounted to incitement to murder Republicans. Of course the British Crown Forces already have a long history of murdering Republicans on sight, but there was always continuity in resistance to British rule. The British forces of occupation have no right to be in Ireland, let alone to employ the use of lethal force on Irish soil or against Irish citizens resisting their presence,” said Richard Walsh, Director of Publicity for Republican Sinn Féin.

“Whether Mr. Paisley likes it or not, the Republican Movement is growing and will continue to grow. Attacks such as the one in Lisnaskea can be ended through a complete British withdrawal from Ireland.”

It is obvious that the comments made by Mr Ian are nothing short of bully boy tactics to try and despair the younger generation of republicans from trying to achieve the goal that they believe is a true independent 32 county Republic of Ireland.

I ask how can a country be a Republic if it is in fact split in two pieces?

It has been noted and it is a very true statement that if the occupation forces in Ireland were not here then Republicans would not have cause to attack them and therefore would be a lasting peace in Ireland as a whole.

Further more has the English establishment forgotten about the decades of abuse and torture of innocent people in the occupied six counties and have they also forgotten about the way Catholics and Nationalists were treated like animals at the hands of the Crowned Forces??

Its amazing the way people forget about these things these days!!

The comments of the quietly ignored Ian Paisley JNR (I speak Irish and think it's a dilution of the language to use it to provide it a 'humorous' insulting epithet to deride a non-speaker. Eat it gaelo-fascists.) should not even be registered on indymedia as the 'story' was well-covered, and universally in damning terms by the local media. RSF, however, disagree, because wars ain't no fun if the other guys shoot back. I suggest RSF put about a circular to all PSNI stations laying out guidelines for engagement with Republicans. It could go like:
1: On identification of armed CIRA volunteers, all personnel in vicinity to hand over arms to said volunteers.
2: PSNI (Insert acronym of Imperialist partitionist group here) personnel are to be held hostage until their families verifiably leave Ireland (To be checked by the IMC.) These houses will therafter be turned into a series of miniature museums concerning the difficult years for physical force Repulicanism post 1994, when the grim spectre of peace almost eclipsed the notion of casual brutality, and firebombing Nationalist towns to achieve independence seemed almost futile. Almost.
3: Any hostages who have not taken their own lives, so as not to be a burden on Republican resources, can either emigrate to their families, and be entered forever into the "Roll of Invaders," which begins with Strongbow and ends with the last prisoner to be entered once Ireland is freed. (To be read by every child every schoolday, and every adult once a week at the local RSF cumann meeting. And once before Communion is given at Mass.) They can naturalise, allowing them to settle in North Kerry, West Cork, or other such areas of political integrity as a few dissidents would not pollute, allowing them to holiday in county Donegal but restricting travel to the Capital in Áth Luain as 'politically unreliable persons.' Or, finally they can work full time for the party, retaining their old home, distributing bolscaireacht an pháirtí to the poor benighted souls in their constituency who have yet to hear the word. This option comes with round-clock garrisoning of the house by volunteers for security from terrorists.

I won't even charge if RSF do actually end up sending this to the occupying tyrannical forces. Tíocfaidh ár lá, agus sin go luath, nach é a chairde? Moilt.

The response would be something along the lines of "Do you guys ever come up with any NEW policies" ?

"A schedule for its permanent disengagement from this island should be put in place and published"

How does starting next wintertime. (Wintertime in Hell that is)

"and a date fixed for its ultimate removal. "

The Thirteenth of Never would be a good date. (What with The Twelfth being a bit awkward owing to the bank holiday you understand)

If RSF had called for all unionists to be shot on sight , think of what the response would have been .

It is disappointing that so very few people have commented on an open invitation by former rogue Unionist politician Ian Óg Paisley for people ‘to shoot all Republicans on sight‘. The only sensible conclusion that I can draw from this lack of reaction is that, nobody takes any notice of the deluded man.

Ian Óg Paisley believes that the ‘majority of the people in the 6 counties’ would approve of his madcap ‘shoot to kill policy’. I would like to ask Mr. Óg Paisley, how many ‘paisleys’ does he see in the mirror and are these the only ‘people’ he has consulted with? I know the Paisleys are physically big and can use up quite a bit of terrain but, they should not proclaim to be the majority of the people of the 6 counties when it is only themselves alone in it.

I have no doubt at all that the PSNI will adopt this madcap ‘shoot to kill policy’ as that has been its favourite modus operandi in the past and it has great expertise in the killing arena and to me it’s truly a reflection of what the PSNI represents on this island and where its political ‘loyalties’ really lie (i.e. with the British Crown idealistically and monetarily - and not with the citizens it proclaims ‘to protect‘).

I would recommend everyone to adopt a calm and sensible approach at this time and introduce yourself to the reality that - you cannot kill Republicanism nor indeed all republicans, as it refuses to die - and any attempt to do so is futile. The reality is that, as long as British rule remains in Ireland, you will continuously have generations to come of dedicated Irish people committed to fighting to free their country from the remnants of the British military occupation of our island.

We all seek a future where freedom and peace reign on this beautiful island of ours, that, we all share, and in order for a permanent peace to be realised, I believe British rule must go (and go it must) or at the very least (and it has always been the very least that Ireland has got from Britain) - a schedule for its permanent disengagement from this island should be put in place and published and a date fixed for its ultimate removal. With the removal of British rule on this island, we can all work together towards creating an everlasting peace where all cultural differences would be accommodated.
