What's the difference between scepticism and cynicism? Cynicism is especially necessary for assessing politics, says Prof James Alexander, as it sits below scepticism, making us question the motives of those who rule us.

International Criticism of Mc Dowell Immigration Bill

category national | rights, freedoms and repression | other press author Monday April 07, 2008 18:56author by One of Many Readers Report this post to the editors

Leninhan in the Revolving Chair

its funny to have a headline on the newswire with Mc Dowell's Name on it, but current
Department of Justice head Mr Brian Lenihan TD failed to separate himself adequately
from the racist policy of his former government cohort ;and has garnered international
and national criticism on his proposed implementation of the 2006 'Immigration,
Residence and Protection Bill'

in fact its only an Immigration Bill because Mr Mc Dowell was forced to implement
International protection treaties on October 10th 2006. To date only one woman has
been granted a subsidiary protection order for FGM.
Defecit in Protection in Ireland.
Defecit in Protection in Ireland.

The UNHCR has released a 14 page critique of our immigration policy.

The Ombudsman for children Emily Logan has released a critique of our Protection
Legislation. She states that not enough is done to protect child immigrants.

The Law Society has asked for copious amendments and excisions.

The EU had widely criticised Irish and UK rules against Romanian and Bulgarian
work and marriage laws.

The Bill is accessible on http://www.justice.ie

http://www.indymedia.ie/article/79003 refers to the protection aspect which was enforced
by the EU and is not adhered to in relation to female victims of violence nor to their
children.

http://www.indymedia.ie/article/79263 refers to the Irish and British immigration laws.

The state is focussed instead on reassuring Irish people that it will build a huge detention
place at Thornton, which is subject to scrutiny because of the cost of the land, the
amount of money paid for it and the zoning problems.

The state has not said who will run this concern. but public /private partnership
has been bandied about.

No mention has been made of faciliities for women who made require services
on either the Dept of Justice Website nor in relation to the problems highlighted
by the above named organisations.

I am adding in this image and wiki page and hope those whom are interested in Human
Rights realise that the reasons that the man lost his job were largely cos of the crappy
legislations.

Legislations detailed on these wiki pages.

Legislations that are being re-used in the best Green style (reduce/reuse/recycle) by the Current
Government and which have garnered a lot of criticism especially in the area of women and children's
rights under accepted international treaties and fundamental rights.

To date:

the Council of Europe has criticised our immigration policy in respect of the legislating preventing
Bulgarian and Romanian workers from earning money here.

the Law Society of Ireland has criticised the Legislation and asked for copious amendments.

the Ombudsman for Children has concerns that unaccompanied children do not have enough
understanding, aid and support.

The UNHCR has issued a 14 page critique of the Bill.

Of course the women who were disallowed voice in Bali about how they EU is affecting sustainability
and isiswomen.org have been saying for years that unfair use of resources by developed nations
is effecting the immigration crisis.

They were not allowed speak.

They use CMI/and AMARC

so the next time there is a global meeting on climate change/sustainability they won't be disallowed

The bill is now Linehan's bill. McDowell (who, like Joe Higgins and several other TDs in the last Dail) was rejected by the people and no longer has anything to do with it.

Linehan has shown himself even more steadfast in immigration matters than his predecessor and seems determined to get this bill through the Oireachtas and into the statute book. He seems particularly determined to end the bogus-marriage racket. This industry involved criminals arranging marriages of convenience between EU nationals and illegal immigrants for large sums of money on the (usually futile) expectation that the immigrant would cheat our immigration process by claiming marriage to an EU citizen. The new notification process will enable the Dept of Justice detect suspect marriages before they take place and save the parties from a costly and futile sham, and perhaps enable the Gardai to get their hands on the criminals.

The bill will also accomplish what the immigration lobby has long been calling for: It will streamline and speed-up the asylum-process so that failed asylum-seekers will no longer be able to frustrate their deportation by disappearing, and the problem of applicants being left idle for months or years will no longer occur because they should have their applications determined within a few short months at the end of which, if successful, they will be able to integrate themselves and work, or if bogus, they will be in detention or on a plane home.

A win-win scenario for all but illegal immigrants.

The bill is clearly racist, I suggest you look at the issue from all the angles.

Dear Mr Lenihan,

The 'Immigration, Residence and Protection Bill (IRMB) is fundamentally flawed,
it was a cosmetic job by a crap politician who used media soundbyte to cover
his obvious political inexperience. it was drafted in 2006 , after nearly all
checks and balences were removed from the Asylum system. To re-introduce
it at this point, on the back of international criticism would reduce yer job
to a laughable scrit-scrat signature signing excerise.

Have not the Pee dees done enough damage in their executive positions?'

Lots Of Love.

International criticism regarding immigration policy has great impact to individuals because of these crappy legislations who had been criticized regarding human rights. This is reality that matters a lot. It is one important issue that needs to be discussed and require effective solution so try to consider all the angles of this concern. But when will this concern be accomplished?
