The Phantom Client

category dublin | crime and justice | other press author Thursday November 22, 2007 13:38author by Domhain Sceadaman - The Plain People of Ireland Report this post to the editors

Gorgeous, Pouting, Karyn Harty revealed on RTE radio tonight that she had never met her latest client, the writer Justine Delaney Wilson. Why is this important? Read on.
Karyn Harty
Karyn Harty

Spare a thought tonight for the detectible legal eagle Karen Harty.

Karyn was interviewed tonight on RTE 1. She was being questioned about her defence of Justine Delaney Wilson who she has just taken on as a client. The interview started off reasonably well and M/z Harty was giving a robust defence of her client’s account of the cocaine culture in Ireland. Then came the bombshell. She was asked when she had met her client.

Karyn revealed that she had never met her client!!!!

Now in Ireland, due to the money laundering laws to take on a new client a lawyer has to meet the client, take a copy of their passport, and utility bills. How this barrister’s delight managed to do this when she admitted that Justine Delaney Wilson was in New Zealand is a bit of a mystery.

McCann FitzGerald has some colourful clients. I recently came across them representing the Brinks organisation in the Brinks/Gerry Creechan saga. see www.gerrycreechan.com

I recorded the interesting interview, as I always record meetings with new clients, the saga about the minister, the writer and now the lawyer gets a bit more complex.

Will the Law Society be told?

Here's me bus
