Not Without My Sister: The amazing story of three brave sisters who grew up in a horrific cult. Celeste, Kristina & Julianna look like three normal sisters, but theirs are lives which have been affected by the worst kind of abuse imaginable. Their story is now being shared in a book called 'Not Without my Sister'. Celeste, Kristina & Julianna grew up in the US-based 'Children of God' cult and were subjected to horrific abuse from the age of three. The same cult that River Phoenix claimed stole his virginity at just four, these incredible women were entrusted to an organisation which practised physical and mental torture, thought control, pornography, prostitution and horrific acts of sexual abuse on innocent children. |

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3 4 5one should look at the documentary states of Fear which allows survivors of child sex abuse in Ireland industrial schools to reveal the truth. this documentary was done by Irish times journalist Rafferty, Eoin o Sullivan TCD.
one only need to look at the situation which occurred in the north inner city. when a woman who was raped as a child. gave evidence against her rapist Christopher Griffin in court 2007. who was sentenced to 15 years.
again we are told that the state solicitor for the residential redress board. who compensate survivors of child sex abuse. has done very well financial for himself.
the role of the Irish state in June 2002 in the deal with the catholic church. which was to become known as the indemnity deal.
Ireland is unique in the EU and indeed in the developing world for being 'pro-family' but anti-child!
We do not have the human rights of the child transcribed into our law.
the right to education.
the right to safety.
the right to privacy.
our state has abdicated its care of the child.
our envisaged referendum on protection is not worth the paper its written on unless
it reverses the sex law statute and transposes the rights of the child into our law.
we need laws to protect kids from trafficking.
we need laws on dignity for kids.
we need laws that recognise gender difference, cos girls are different to boys , no-one
is gender neutral, specifically in relation to ability to reproduce. Protections and supports
for 12-17 year old girls of 'child-bearing' years are necessary.
But we have refused in our hypocrisy to even discuss the matter and instead create and
sustain social problems and inadequate infrastructural supports for Irish Girls, for FF/
Gree/PD its always about the money and not how our hypocrisy in relation to education
and protection creates an impoverished sub-class.
= this kind of destrcuction of the individual happens here.
The Children of God Christian Cult is hardly news. As an offshoot of the CIA sponsored Jesus Freak movement, it has moderated it's beliefs and practices over the years to lure in more suckers. Some of the claims of these people seem a little over the top considering what we know of these Jesus Freaks due to much leaked information from other former cult members.
Could it be they are souping up their stories to sell well? If they are, I am sure they are glad to get all the free publicity they can get.

I for one will not be buying this cash in on a Christian cop out although the movie might do well in Amsterdam?
"Members are encouraged to imagine that Jesus is having sex with them, during sexual intercourse and masturbation. Male members are told to visualize themselves as women, in order to avoid a homosexual relationship with Jesus."
I believe that the sister on the right was interviewed in one of the local papers in Limerick, and she wasn't plugging any book or film at the time.
I had only a short time before met some of 'The Family' in a local shopping centre making balloon animals and doing face-painting for kids, and distributing some of their literature, and selling some of their CDs.
the name rang a bell, and I asked someone working for the centre to check out who these people were, and be sure that they actually wanted them in their shopping centre.
Later, I had the chance to put some questions to some of these folks, and an older gent rambled on evasively about all the places he'd lived, while the zealous twenty year old assistant assured me that the allegations were nothing but lies inspired by evil. I'm sure that's what he has been told, but his older accomplice certainly avoided addressing the topic.
I have never heard of this cult. I extend all my careful love, hugs and well wishes to the women who survived this abuse.
However, I do have a problem with the author of this piece.
The article is triggering to a survivor of SA. Fine, freedom of speech etc, but I honestly feel that a warning of some kind should be gien in the title. "Children of God" hardly prepares one to relive scenes of CSA, rape or violence now does it? Especially as the piece is designed to be a help to victims.
The fact that they came to speak and were publicised here is fantastic. My only problem is with clicking on "children of god" and reading details of abuse that are potentially very triggering for other survivors. Consideration needed I think.
