France and Germany are willing to sabotage their own economies (by sanctioning Russia) to uphold the ?rules-based international order?. Yet they are not willing to say they will implement a simple ICC ruling. Why?

ARAN Event Notice: Protest National Hare Coursing Finals

category national | animal rights | event notice author Thursday January 09, 2014 10:34author by ARAN - Animal Rights Action Networkauthor email arancampaigns at eircom dot netauthor address Dublin, Ireland Report this post to the editors

February 3rd, Clonmel Co. Tipperary

As the hare coursing season draws to a shameful close, hunters, shooters and everyone who's anyone in the world of blood sports will attend the Clonmel hare coursing finals. Over the last number of years ARAN has been staging lively demonstrations directly opposite the gates where the coursing and hunting enthusiasts arrive by car and coach in their thousands. This year we plan on being there and we hope that you'll schedule in the day to be there for the animals whilst making it the start of your commitment to stand with other caring people to bring blood sports in Ireland to an end.

When: Monday, February 3, 12noon sharp - 2pm
Where: Powerstown Park, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary

What is wrong with hare coursing? The “Sport” is inherently cruel from beginning to end. Hares are snatched from the wild by netting them in their thousands, kept captive in coursing compounds for weeks on end, and then forced to run for their lives. Although the greyhounds are muzzled, hares continue to be struck, tossed into the air and mauled into the ground, which can result in severe injury, broken bones, heart attacks and death. Considering that Northern Ireland has banned this cruel practice, there is no reason why Ireland should continue to cling onto this most shameful, cruel spectacle. ARAN is supporting fresh legislative efforts to bring about an end to hare coursing in Ireland. Defenders of hare coursing continue to assert that the muzzling of greyhounds has eliminated the kill, but the annual monitoring reports obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, say otherwise.

Thank you for all you do to help animals in trouble,

It's a sick so-called pastime and I hope ARAN and other animal groups win this battle...
