Remembering Thatchers Victims

I know various parts of Britain are hosting gatherings to remember the dark legacy of Maggies reign but I think that in Dublin we should all come together tonight on O Connell Street to collectively remember all effected by the woman, particularly the hunger strikers, shoot to kill victims, Argentines, miners the list goes on. SO just throwing it out there and open to suggestions but this occassion should not pass with out challenging the message that Thatcher represented. Needless to say the media will be quick to have revised sanitised versions of her life being beamed over the airwaves.

This could happen at Brit embassy either but just thought it may be handier spur of the moment to have it on O Connell street. Please leave this open as a suggestion thread to add times and ideas

BITCH THATCHER DEAD

The boast of heraldry, the pomp of pow'r,
And all that beauty, all that wealth e'er gave,
Awaits alike th' inevitable hour.
The paths of glory lead but to the grave.

Nor you, ye proud, impute to these the fault,
If Mem'ry o'er their tomb no trophies raise,
Where thro' the long-drawn aisle and fretted vault
The pealing anthem swells the note of praise.

Can storied urn or animated bust
Back to its mansion call the fleeting breath?
Can Honour's voice provoke the silent dust,
Or Flatt'ry soothe the dull cold ear of Death?

Perhaps in this neglected spot is laid
Some heart once pregnant with celestial fire;
Hands, that the rod of empire might have sway'd,
Or wak'd to ecstasy the living lyre.

But Knowledge to their eyes her ample page
Rich with the spoils of time did ne'er unroll;
Chill Penury repress'd their noble rage,
And froze the genial current of the soul.

“Memento mori”

This emblema was significantly displayed in a triclinium and is one of the most striking for the clarity of its allegorical representation. The topic is Hellenistic in origin and presents death as the great leveller who cancels out all differences of wealth and class. It is a theme that has come down to our days, as for example in the famous poem ’A livella by the comic actor A. de Curtis (Totò). In fact the composition is surmounted by a level (libella) with a plumb line, the instrument used by masons to get their constructions straight and level. The weight is death (the skull) below which are a butterfly (the soul) and a wheel (fortune).

On each side, suspended from the arms of the level and kept in perfect balance by death, are the symbols of wealth and power on the left (the sceptre and purple) and poverty on the right (the beggar’s scrip and stick). The theme, like the skeletons on the silverware in the treasure of Boscoreale, was intended to remind diners of the fleeting nature of earthly fortunes.

In British Occupied Ireland, the celebration are expected to continue well into next year.

TV chef Jamie Oliver stopped filming an advert just long enough to say, "Yeah, she was a great lady. "Now I imagine all those worms will be making their way through the walls of her coffin to feast on her remains - I'd reccommend they eat her with a hint of garlic and lemon, bang in some Basil, and Bob's your uncle, Puckah!"

PEOPLE WITH NO IDEA WHO THATCHER WAS 'ECSTATIC' THAT SHE'S DEAD
THOUSANDS of people under 35 are rejoicing at the
demise of a woman they once read about.

MP George Galloway met with disgust after tweeting 'tramp the dirt down'
Facebook campaign to take 'Ding Dong! The Witch is Dead' to number one
Stop The War Coalition: 'She should also be remembered as a warmonger'
GMB union: 'Her legacy involves the destruction of communities'
Durham Miners' Association: Her death was a 'great day' for coal miners
Second most trending topic on Twitter: #nostatefuneral
NUS National conference reported to have cheered at news of her death
Street party to be held in London to celebrate her death this evening

At the NUS National conference in Sheffield there were cheers when her death was revealed, while street parties to celebrate her death are set to be held this evening.

The lyrics were written by E.Y. Harburg and the song celebrates the death of the Wicked Witch of the East after Dorothy 'dropped a house on her'.
Less than an hour after her death was made public, a book entitled Thatcher Tributes with a witch on the front was on sale.
The publishers said the book will be released by erbacce-press as a paperback and will be available at bookshops and via their websites.
They said 'It is an expression of the feelings of ordinary people who will greet the death of Mrs Thatcher with very little regret.'
A website set up three years ago asking 'Is Margaret Thatcher Dead Yet?' was today updated for the first time - with the word 'YES'.
The website currently has more than 130,000 'likes' on Facebook and thousands of people have written about it on Twitter.
'Likes' on their Facebook page were rocketing at a rate of 2,500 a minute.
Throughout the former prime minister's deteriorating health the site, isthatcherdeadyet.co.uk, had simply stated 'NOT YET' in large capital letters.

A joyful Labour councillor posted a bottle of Bollinger in celebration on Twitter as Durham Miners' Association announced her death was a 'great day' for coal miners.

In a further message on the social networking site, Mr Galloway said: 'Thatcher described Nelson Mandela as a 'terrorist'. I was there. I saw her lips move. May she burn in the hellfires.'
Meanwhile revellers held a party in south London, Brixton, to celebrate her death.
Organised on Facebook the invite read: 'A party to celebrate the death of Thatcher and our continuing commitment to fight the legacy she left and that continues to devastate the lives of ordinary people everywhere.'
Over 6,000 people were invited to attend and party-goer told revellers to tell the press 'it's in memory of those who died in the Falklands and the UK from her reign of error.'

The death of Baroness Thatcher was a 'great day' for coal miners, David Hopper, general secretary of the Durham Miners' Association said today.
The ex-miner, who turned 70 today, spent all of his working life at Wearmouth Colliery.
He said: 'It looks like one of the best birthdays I have ever had.
'There's no sympathy from me for what she did to our community. She destroyed our community, our villages and our people.
'For the union this could not come soon enough and I'm pleased that I have outlived her.
'It's a great day for all the miners, I imagine we will have a counter demonstration when they have her funeral.

Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams reacted to the announcement of Baroness Thatcher’s death with a scathing assessment of her political legacy in Ireland and elsewhere.
'Margaret Thatcher did great hurt to the Irish and British people during her time as British prime minister,' claimed Mr Adams.
A Facebook campaign has been launched to take Judy Garland song 'Ding Dong! The Witch is Dead' to number one following Margaret Thatcher's death.
A series of pages urge people to buy MP3 downloads of the song, which features in 1939 musical The Wizard of Oz.
One, called Make 'Ding dong the witch is dead' number 1 the week Thatcher dies, already had 590 members by 1.30pm with numbers rapidly rising.
In the film the song is performed by the Munchkin characters, Glinda the Good Witch, played by Billie Burke, and Dorothy, played by Judy Garland.

THATCHER DEAD: ROT IN HELL YOU EVIL BITCH

Another evil cunt dead without ever having faced justice.
I imagine we will have to listen to weeks of sycophantic old bollocks now which the brain dead public will lap up.
It will be interesting to see if the vile sadistic paedophile will get a state funeral.
May the cunt rot in hell.

I hated and loathed bloody Thatcher... she was diabolical and a war criminal that was never held accountable for her actions ( does that ring a bell ?) one of many British prime ministers.

I lived under her and saw complete devastation of English communities, homelessness and and increase of people sleeping on the streets in small towns throughout the southwest and what she did to the miners was completely unjustified.

I am , never was or will be a fan of Baroness Thatcher; however, I have to admit to feeling uneasy at the bile above. If Thatcher's rationale was insensitivity and hate, then she would be proud of the above posts, which by their reactionairy nature are more a tribute/endorsement than anything else.
I never liked her and will forget her quickly. Yes, her legacy lives on, and all the above, understandable as they are, ensure that legacy.
Hate is a way of holding on; an embrace in the negative, nevertheless an embrace.
Let her go and look to the future and don't buy into the media agenda. Be not like the puppets they want you to be.
Think for yourselves and face away. Silence the best response to one not worthy of more.

People are entitled to express some anger considering how she behaved in office.
Her legacy will be secured by the MSM sycophants anyway.
At least the bile will serve as a warning for the next generation of conservatives (both here and in the UK!) who are trying to follow the same kind of policies.

Let the bile flow freely!

I find it amusing that Gerry Adams speaks of the hurt to the Irish caused by Mrs Thatcher, once again his view of history is reconstructive. What of the hurt caused to the Irish people by the IRA and every republican terrorist organisation alongside all the loyalist terrorist organisations.

Mrs Thatcher made some bad mistakes, but to single her out from all those involved is ridiculous. She stood up to terrorists they tried to take her out by bombing her and they failed, yet that crime is forgotten.

The bile regarding her death is typical of the bull that people have to listen to from groups who caused as much hurt and pain (if not more) than she did. The real truth is they were defeated by her and it is sticking in their collective craws.

She has a much right to rest in peace as do dead terrorists.

Maybe

But since there is "no such thing as society" why should we have to collectively mourn her death and say nice things about her. Who cares. It's every man for himself now. She's just another shrivelled corpse.

I guess that kind of "every man for himself" philosophy is a two edged sword isn't it?. It even applies to dead conservatives.

Because of the perpetuation of this bankrupt philosophy by people like Margaret Thatcher, now nobody's life means anything to anyone anymore. Not even an evil right wing neo liberal cunt like Maggie's.

So may she rot in meaningless hell with nobody caring about her. After all, it's every man / woman for themselves. More food and resources for the rest of us.

Of course, in a kinder society based on collective values, we would rightly mourn our dead leaders because we would know by their actions that they actually gave a shit about our welfare. For example, Venezuela mourning Hugo Chavez.

However we don't live in a society that values the collective good any more. Thanks to bastards like Maggie, It's a selfish post capitalist neo liberal feudalist nightmare fuckfest. So Maggie's shrivelled evil corpse can go fuck itself, just as the value system she tried to perpetuate taught us to believe.

That uncaring sentiment is a fitting epitaph for an enthusiastic perpetuator of Ayn Rand bullshit philosophy that has morally bankrupted our societies and eaten away what was good in them from the inside out.

Australia's Foreign Minister Bob Carr interviewed for Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s Lateline program two days ago recalled a meeting he had with Thatcher in Sydney after her retirement . He referred to “an old-fashioned quality” in Thatcher’s conversational style that she obviously felt no need to restrain . With Carr’s Asian wife Helen standing close-by, Thatcher warned an astonished Carr of the dangers of "native Australians “ being swamped by Asian immigrants : 'I like Sydney” she told him ,“ but you can't allow the migrants 'to take over, otherwise you will end up like Fiji where the Indian migrants have taken over.'

In the Lateline interview -which was mainly concerned with Australia’s relationship with China -Carr was asked to express his views on the death of Thatcher . He revealed what he thought was the probable public relations thinking behind the sacking of Britain’s “ greatest prime minister since Churchill” by her own party .
“It reminded me that despite, yes, her greatness on those big questions, the role of the state, the evil nature of the Communist totalitarianism, there was an old-fashioned quality to her that was entirely out of touch and probably explained why her party removed her in the early 90s."

Even in death, Thatcher is taking resources away from the poor.

While ordinary britons suffer deep austerity, Thatcher gets 17 million pounds of taxpayers money spent on her wasteful and extravagant funeral arrangements.

Dead tories are still far more important than live citizens of the working classes.

There is no such thing as society except, of course, until we need to gather collective funds so that the rich can get to live and die extravagantly.

I loved Ken Loach's comment:
"Let’s privatise her funeral. Put it out to competitive tender and accept the cheapest bid. It's what she would have wanted."
