SF stoop to even lower depths

category national | miscellaneous | news report author Sunday September 09, 2012 22:34author by Teresa Report this post to the editors

The condemnation by Cllr Mac Donncha of the friends and family of Mr Alan Ryan, buried on Saturday 8th September following his brutal murder on the streets of Dublin on Monday 3rd September shows how low this former "republican party" have gone.

I am no supporter of the so-called "Reals" but it is morally disgraceful that SF attacked a community in mourniing.

How low can they continue to go?

SF no longer fit to call themselves "republican".

I write with regard to the statement issued by Sinn Fein on Sunday 9th September 2012 in reference to the funeral of Irish Republican, Alan Ryan, shot on the streets of Dublin on Monday 3rd September. In a strongly worded and bitter statement Sinn Fein Councillor Michael Mac Donncha attacked the group to which Mr Ryan was associated. One does not have to agree with the politics of the "Real" IRA to see that a vitiolic condemnation is totally unwarranted. To come out and attack a group of people and by extension Mr Ryan's family a day after they buried their son and comrade is dispicable. It is a total disgrace that a so-called and self described "republican party" would climb onto the establishment band wagon and launch a vicious verbal assault on members of a community who are in grief.

In Sinn Fein's race to distance themselves so completely from "armed insurgents" and to place themselves firmly in the political middle ground Sinn Fein will stop at nothing. I am very saddened by Sinn Fein's stance on this. They had no need to say anything, the moral position would have been to remain silent and allow Mr Ryan's friends and family to mourn. This once very progressive party have stooped to a very low depth. Shame on them. shame on them.

Hi Fred, a chara, in answer to your question, the best I can do is to quote a post from soviet.ie I know the writer, so he will not mind me posting it here. I think it is an excellent analysis and well worth reading:

What has struck me over the past couple of days is the delicate and precarious nature of the State's control. It took just 1000 or so people, perhaps only 200 of them organised in any way, and the State had a real problem on its hand. They couldn't do as they liked. They may couch it in terms of a "mature" decision not to intervene, but the reality is that with fewer people there, they would have had no problem intervening. They cared so much about the Ryan family that their spokesperson to the press last week said that Alan would not be missed. Today we're expected to believe that it was sensitive community policing that held them at bay.

Donaghmede for an afternoon was a liberated zone. So, this is what it feels like! Of course, there have been liberated areas in Ireland before, South Armagh, East Tyrone, the Bogside, West Belfast, South Fermanagh. Much more established liberated zones, ones that lasted for years, even decades. But this was a start, it showed that it was possible, in today's Ireland, and exactly how it was possible, and not in some remote rural area, but right bang in the middle of Dublin, with the forces of the State only yards away, but unable to act.

The recipe is simple, and could be straight out of a Maoist text. Concentrate your forces, move amongst the people as fish swim in the sea. If so many people can come together to bury a comrade, what is to stop them coming together for any other kind of activity, whether that be anti-drugs, landlords, banks or whatever other anti-social activity that goes on in their midst. Concentrate your manpower, and take on issues that the masses need resolved and are ready to support, and there is no reason why this cannot be repeated. 20 or 30 protesters isolated over a dozen different protests does not shake the sysetm, concentrate your forces though, and then merge back into the populace that has assembled.

People are regularly brought together for protests, meaningless protests without any real defiance. On other occasions there are acts of defiance, colour parties looking remarkably like that which was on display on Saturday, but defiance without popular support or rather, without popular involvement, the kind of defiance that can be safely ignored by the state every Easter, every Bodenstown. Bring the two together though, and we see what the effect is, how the enemy panic!!

And the strategy doesn't stop at protests. Any action that requires mobilisation. Pick your area, concentrate your forces, and you will achieve something, something that can inspire people across the country. Community gardens could be built in a day, instead of taking weeks or months, other projects not possible for a small band of comrades suddenly become possible. And of course Mao and his likeminded comrades had other fields which they applied this theory of concentration to as well! With a few hundred members, which any of today's republican or socialist groups surely could muster if they really wanted to do it, there should be much more action on this scale, nevermind what could be done if their numbers were combined!

"People need to get out of the slavish idea that those in bourgeois parliaments represent them. "

I hear what you are saying DD and what you say about globalised capitalism rings true. I'm not under any illusions. They don't represent me. They represent the rich. However the Irish people are still sleepwalking and the revolution is not going to happen any time soon here by the looks of things. Until the great awakening happens (yeah right! presumably when x factor ends!) we don't have that many choices, apart from ongoing grassroots organising, and meanwhile picking the best of a bad lot to limit the damage a little. Currently that means SF and a few independents.

There has been a principle about for many years, that armed struggle with all its human costs, is a last resort in the absence of all other tried alternatives. A united democratic Ireland that cares and eliminates the inhumane conditions of the people of no property is still an aspiration for many. Clearly the latest phase of the armed struggle of more than 50 years, has failed to deliver that or even the basic aspirations of the Civil rights movement. The return of internment without trial, deprives those interned and those who would challenge the status quo, indeed all of us, of the most basic forms of civil rights.Challenge we must for those of us with a political conscience, regardless of whom is interned without a proper trial of their peers.

However as someone who has all of my life, asserted the right of the Irish people to take up arms for justice, I believe that at thsi point in time, all paramilitary groups, including the paramilitary psni British police, stand in the way of the progress of the democratic will of the Irish people. I believe there is more than enough evidence out there, that the British secret services MI5 and MI6 have infiltrated to a considerable extent, all paramilitary groups and in so doing, control the sourcing and distribution of hard drugs throughout all of the island of Ireland. In so doing the British secret services, control almost every community in all of the island of Ireland, both from an intelligence perspective and with counter-revolutionary Kitsonian techniques.

A more sophisticated form of divide and conquer is the order of the day, the most recent example being Ulster on the Euphrates. These secret services aside from engineering fascist vigilante groups, are also capable engineering Mexican style tit for tat gang warfare on the streets of all Ireland with considerable bloodshed. The Dublin-Monaghan bombings and the systematic assassination of rights activists over the last fifty years, in both parts of Ireland, is evidence of their ruthlessness. They are more than willing to loose their own personnel and a few battles, to win their war as the Smithwick tribunal demonstrates.

Despite considerable ongoing censorship, I believe that with organized modern multimedia, it is now a good time, to test the phrase, 'the pen is mightier than the sword." The British are already hard at work on it from their base in Hollywood, daily churning out dis-information, character assassination and plain propaganda, alongside their mainstay of the BBC world service, capturing Irish minds and hearts for empire. Because of the extent of British penetration of para-military groups presently and the existence of modern multimedia possibilities, I genuinely believe that traditional Irish Republicans, are morally obliged to try all possible avenues other than paramilitary armed struggle. Fear now stalks the streets of both parts of Ireland because of paramilitary activity and a hard drug epidemic. In one Irish city alone over 200 young people have been ordered out at gunpoint, others shot dead and parents ordered to take their children fro knee capping. This is Irish fascism on a horrific scale and is barbarous. I also believe that like Portugal that drugs should be legalized in Ireland for transparency reasons and to eliminate British destruction of all Irish communities. The video included gives a brief explanation. The drug epidemic is a gift from heaven to those paramiltary police who who rule both parts of Ireland.

In recent times, I've noticed that certain people, who would consider themselves republicans, like to crow about the success of "the peace process." As evidence of this "success" they point to the small numbers of Crown Occupation Forces that have been killed in recent times.

It's clear that for these people, war means the oppressed fighting back by killing the forces of the oppressor. If there are no, or few, armed actions by the oppressed, then there is no war.

In relation to this idea, I would like to quote from a recent document from the National Liberation Army, ELN, of Colombia, posted by Lugh:

However, we express again, we seek a peace that is elusive.

For the poor of Colombia, peace is social justice and equity, real democracy and sovereignty.

For the class in power, peace is different. The ruling class sees peace as a state of affairs which does not affect their economic and political interests, their power, their aspirations, as conceived within the capitalist system.

Its clear that PSF now has the same view of "peace" as the ruling class has i.e. the ability of capital to profit without effective resistance from its victims. The ELN knows that war is never begun and maintained by the oppressed. War is the instrument used by the ruling class to keep themselves in wealth and privilege. Capitalism, in itself, is war against the vast majority of the human race. This is an unrelenting war, which murders at least 40,000 people a day, through malnutrition, and 25,000 children a day from dirty water. To pretend that we have peace, or even a "peace process," is to join in that Holocaust.

For many years in Ireland, many Irish people got great entertainment out of reading the "War News" in An Phoblacht, or the gaudy reports in the bourgeois media. That entertainment is their idea of war. And when they are denied that entertainment, they think there must be peace. Real war is not entertaining. It is the grinding down of billions of people, day by day. It is a child vomiting up it guts because of the rat infested water it has been forced to drink. It is the despair of a mother watching her child die like this.

To enter into a "peace process" with the perpetrators of these crimes is obscene and criminal. Those who promote such a vile "peace" are nothing but the cowardly footmen of the ruling class, the Judas Goats, who lead the people to their annihilation.

"The condemnation by Cllr Mac Donncha of the friends and family of Mr Alan Ryan, "

He did no such thing. He condemned the RIRA and 32CSM. If the 32CSM have the support of the community then they can prove it by standing against Mac Donnacha in the local elections.

Having said that I regret the death of Alan Ryan, I think the armed struggle carried on by RIRA and others is futile. The PIRA at full strength couldn't beat the the British.

But Alan Ryan didn't live the life of a wealthy gangster, the crime correspondents make up lies and they spread them about Alan for years. I don't know the real story about money being extracted from criminals but if it was then it wasn't done for personal gain.

Somebody was looking for the text of the rat Michael Mac Donncha's shameful outburst. Here it is, in all its ugly, counter-revolutionary, treachery. And well done to Teresa for drawing attention to this new low for a low crew.

"Violent faction is rejected by community in Donaghmede" - Councillor Mícheál Mac Donncha

September 9, 2012

Commenting on the appearance of wall slogans and black flags in the area in connection with the funeral of a member of the so-called 'Real IRA', local Sinn Féin Councillor Mícheál Mac Donncha said:

“The murder of Alan Ryan was a shocking crime. All such murders and shootings are wrong and should stop. No grief should be visited on any other family and the community sympathises with all the bereaved.

“As a public representative I have to reflect the views of the local community and it has to be said that there is great resentment at attempts to portray the so-called 'Real IRA' as being supported by this community. Wall slogans and black flags cannot hide the fact that this violent faction is rejected by the community in Donaghmede and that they represent no-one but themselves. Equally, they are spurned by the vast majority of the nationalist community in the North on whose behalf they falsely claim to act.

“Genuine Irish republicans throughout the country totally reject the activities of this group and other such factions who abuse the good name of Irish republicanism to further their own ends.”

"unable to accept that the party which you hold allegiance to has stooped so low"

I am not aligned to any political party. However I am highly suspicious of posts like the one you put up which are in even worse taste than the SF remarks if they are exploiting a mans death to score political points. This kind of cynical behaviour is not unknown here.

If your post is genuine, fair enough. I must admit, It doesn't look like it is to me though. Too much glee in putting the boot in.

No matter how bad this SF statement was, in the south SF are still better than FF/FG/Labour in my opinion
(but I know that's not saying much!!). Mary Lou and Pearce Doherty have been a great addition to the Dail, even though they are somewhat powerless due to the whip system and large FG/Lab majority.

Might be nice to see you post something criticising FG/Labour too Teresa. Or is it just SF you put the boot in? If so then it's hard to see you as anything other than a party hack on "get the boot in" duty for your masters. If so, then using a mans death for this is even worse than what SF did.

Freddy freddy freddy, so angry, unable to accept that the party which you hold allegiance to has stooped so low, attacking people in mourning in a pathetic attempt to garner favour from the parties you mentioned in your post, FF & FG.

It might be a shock to a politico like yourself but most people are not involved in political parties. I am a former member of SF but like very many Republican minded people I could not stomach being part of SF any more. I'm what you could call jaded by political parties. Let SF work away to get their places at the tables of power, so what, but attacking grief stricken people in their hour of need, it really is disgusting. I believe you recognise it as disgusting also, don't you Freddy?

I believe that SF's showing in recent polls has gone to their heads, they now consider that the ordinary Republican people are surplus to requirement, now that they are getting support from former Labour supporters etc. SF should be wary of such arrogance, their new found support (if it exists outside polls) comes from very fickle sources.

The only 'political rats' in Ireland are those in Leinster House and Stormont. Feeding off the population, getting fat on other peoples work.

Remember the full title of the organisation to which Councillor Mícheál Mac Donncha belongs is - *Provisional* Sinn Féin.
Provisional is just another word for temporary.
And those who are part of the Gerry Adams' faction have made it clear, they no longer see themselves as militant Irish republicans.

Their ambition is to replace Fianna Fáil in every sense of the word, including making republicanism just an empty slogan to be used around election time.
Remember Martin McGuinness and his "West Brit" declaration, used to launch his presidential campaign.
It was a juvenile attempt to use the language of republicans to create the misleading impression that Provisional Sinn Féin was still part of the fight for Irish freedom.

The councillor complains at the end of his press release about those who "abuse the good name of Irish republicanism to further their own ends".
That's very much what Gerry Adams and his Armani Brigade are doing right now.
