Shell Gives Erris Fishermen a Dose of the Crabs

category mayo | rights, freedoms and repression | news report author Thursday June 28, 2012 19:28author by Crabby Report this post to the editors

The bowl was eventually brought to the surface with Shell's current offer to EIFA floating inside

Erris Inshore Fishermen's Association (EIFA) gets a dose of the crabs from Shell and were left scratching on Monday last!: Three years too late, EIFA 'fishermen', whose shillings from Shell have run out were back again on Monday on another begging spree. During this begging exercise by EIFA Shell's begging bowl ended up in the depths of the ocean off Ballyglass Pier and deep sea divers were successful in locating the bowl at co-ordinates 54-15-21 N, 09-53-49 W.

The bowl was eventually brought to the surface with Shell's current offer to EIFA floating inside. Criminal damage is alleged and an incident room has been set up and anyone with information is encouraged to come forward. A number of people have been interviewed and we understand a file is being prepared for the DPP.

The 'toilet' which is called Shell's Begging Bowl indicates the lenghts people are willing to go to get a few € from Shell. It appeared locally the first year Shell tried to buy people over with a few euro for this and that.

Some people, including a lot of the fishermen allowed themselves to be delivered to Shell by the head of EIFA, the Erris Inshore Fishermens Association Eddie Divers. They abandoned the Chief and a few other brave fishermen for Shell's euros.

Those euros are gone now so they're out again to dip into the begging bowl.
