[Dublin] Demo – #FreedomWaves: Irish Government Must Take Action

category dublin | rights, freedoms and repression | event notice author Sunday November 06, 2011 22:24author by Kev - ISTG Report this post to the editors

We must show the Department of Foreign Affairs that they are NOT doing enough either to support our friends in an Israeli prison, or to put pressure on Israel to comply with international law. The Irish Ship to Gaza Campaign has called for a demo outside the Department of Foreign Affairs, St Stephen's Green, on Monday 7th November at 5PM.

 The Irish Ship to Gaza campaign is calling on the Irish government to take the following concrete actions against the state of Israel:

 (1) Suspend Israel from the Euromed Agreement, which gives Israel special trading status;

(2) End all arms trade with Israel;

(3) Take steps to ensure that no Irish state-funded institution engages in any cultural, academic, or economic cooperation with the state of Israel or its associated institutions; and

(4) Cease all grants to Israel made under the EU’s framework programme for research

...Minister Gilmore has announced the closure of the Iranian embassy(at a time when it would seem more advisable to keep channels open)and that Israel has a record of abusing our passport priveleges as well as recidivist breaking of UN resolutions and war crimes against civilian populations, might I suggest you demand the closure of the Israeli embassy..after all they actually dont do diplomacy; except as a cynical diversion from their establishment of brute facts on the colonised Palestinian ground.

I suggest the eviction of the ambassador and the housing of a Palestinian refugee family in the residence.
